Letter-winged Kite (Elanus scriptus) (1) Adult female observed and photographed
in a dead tree on Murray Mouth Road. Bird never flew and was in same position
when I drove past again nearly 2 hours later. Initially thought to be a
Black-shouldered Kite, however inspection by an experienced birder of my
photograph pointed out no black extending behind the eye, grey wash to back of
head, grey cere rather than yellow of BSK, and pale legs.

Sighted on Murray Mouth Road, Hindmarsh Island.
