Sun 16 Feb White-throated Needletail Shepherd's Lookout
Great views of 62 White-throated Needletails flying above the lookout at ~0930, then flying about at tree top level through Woodstock Nature Reserve for several minutes, heading off in an approximately North-Easterly direction.

White-throated Needletail Queanbeyan
Dozens of White-throated Needletails above Freebody Oval in west Queanbeyan at ~10:50am heading roughly northwest (towards the airport). No Fork-taileds observed. [Moderator's comment: Queanbeyan is in NSW but this record published on Birdline ACT as the birds were seen heading into the ACT.]

Small flock of 10 Needletails heading west along Point Hut Road, approx. 1km west of crossing at 17.35

A flock of 46 needletails flew over the house at 1927 tonight heading south. Hopefully a harbinger of rain. No sign of any Pacific Swifts.

2 birds seen foraging in the Sanctuary around 10am

Mon 10 Feb Black Kite Lanyon Homestead
Pair seen perched on dead euc. in paddock ~1-1.5km N of Tharwa along Tharwa Drive. One bird subsequently took off, passing close overhead and showing distinctive silhouette with diagnostic forked tail. Harassed by Magpie-lark before landing in tree closer to Tharwa. Sighting submitted to eBird.
