Tue 24 Sep Letter-winged Kite Strzelecki Track
Heading south on ST we camped at a water hole near the creek crossing one night hoping to see L-W Kite. Heading south the next day at 10:30am, we were amazed and thrilled to find 13 Letter-winged Kites roosting in a leafy Euc. tree not far off the road on the western side. Some photos taken of ok quality. This was 245 km north of Lyndhurst. All appeared to be in adult plumage.

Australasian Bittern Greenfields Wetlands, Dry Creek
Water levels still high. Australasian Bittern (1) flushed from dense growth on southern end of wetland close to Magazine Rd. Flew in a slow arc just above dense growth around margins of ponds and then landed on edge of pond in rush/sedge. Excellent views as it slowly made its way from sparse cover into dense reedy growth.

Mon 23 Sep Rufous Night-Heron Prince Alfred College
Rufous Night-Heron At least 6 present again on the front oval, this time already at 18.50. Some flew off, loud 'kyok' calls heard overhead and moving south-west to the parklands. Unlikely they would have flown all the way from the mangroves so soon after dusk. Have any been sighted roosting along the Torrens?

Thu 19 Sep Red-tailed Black Cockatoo Inside Birdsville Track
Close to northern SA border we saw 35-40 R-T Black Cockatoos flying over dune from west to east near dry Diamantina creek.
