Sun 25 Aug White-winged Fairy-wren Lake Coolmunda
One flock of at least three birds (one full-coloured male and two females, with more individuals likely) in the overgrown paddock that borders the lake, on the straight between the caravan park and the turn-off to the day use area. Superb Fairy-wrens were also in vicinity.

Squatter Pigeon Gore, along Cunningham Hwy
Three birds seen at about 1:30pm, foraging on a truck pull-over approx 2.6km from the Gore service station (approaching from Warwick), on the right side of the highway. Allowed for good looks and some pictures, before retreating into thicker vegetation. Photo credit Carla Archibald.

White-eared Monarch Cunningham's Gap, Main Range NP, e. of Warwick
One bird seen while stopped by the road-side, mid-ascent of the Gap, at about 7:30am. The bird landed briefly in some vine thicket before being mobbed by a Bell Miner.

Continuing the recent spate of sightings in Brisbane area, a single bird in margins of paperbark swamp off junction of Henry Road and Dohles Rocks Road. On far side of recently burnt grassland.

Spotless Crake, Baillon's Crake Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
One Spotless Crake at edge of reedbed behind viewing platform and at least two others calling. Two Baillon's Crakes on lily pads near the northern edge of the main pond. Visited site between 09:30 and 10:00 am.

3 bustards were seen in a paddock on the way to the St George Golf Course along with a Red-backed Kingfisher on the power lines nearby.

Grey-crowned Babbler Kumbartcho Sanctuary on the South Pine River
Babbler family started their nest building in a pine tree adjacent to the car park just as we started our morning bird walk and had managed an impressive amount of building by the time we returned in just a couple of hours

monthly Kumbartcho survey on this clear crisp morning with a group of 6 observers Grey-crowned Babbler (6) family of Babblers nest building adjacent to the Car Park first I've recorded at Kumbartcho White-winged Triller (1) high in a heavily flowered eucalypt first I've recorded at Kumbartcho

Australian Little Bittern Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
One subadult bird, presumably the same one as was seen sporadically a month or two ago, flushed from the reeds while heading eastwards (away from the viewing platform) along the walkway dividing the two ponds, first onto a perch in the south pond where it stayed for about half a minute, then flew into the vegetation to the northeast. This is my sixth time visiting this site targeting this bird and first time seeing it for sure.

35 Black Kites over Petrie Creek and Turf farms in middle of the day, about 10 km from the coast.

Mon 19 Aug Regent Honeyeater Bundamba suburbia - private site
At least 1 bird still present - regularly coming into a suburban garden this evening. The bird was not banded. The finder (and resident of the property) would like to keep the site private.

A good variety of bush birds were seen and heard.

Black Falcon Tin Can Bay
At anchorage in inlet off Norman Pt. at 5.15pm Very black falcon flew with crow like wing flaps. Very long tail with rounded edge. No other discernible markings. Flew over the boat from shore to shore, good visual sighting within 10 meters of our vessel.

10 Pink eared Duck - uncommon spp for Sunshine Coast. Magpie Goose - about 70. over 100 Plumed Whistling Duck plus common spp White eyed, Black Ducks, Coot, Moorhen etc.

Single bird seen about 2k's down the road by a small dam. Also 2 Bluebonnets, 3 Emus and plenty of White-winged Fairywrens around
