Black Bittern (1) my first sighting of the season

Wed 10 Oct White-throated Needletail Black Mountain Rd, Kuranda
At least 5, probably closer to 10, White-throated Needletails wheeling above rainforest at 7:45am today above Black Mountain Rd, Kuranda. This is my first record of this species in the Wet Tropics for the season.

2 birds seen flying south, first sighting since Yasi (February 2011)

2 birds seen along with 3 Pied Oystercatcher on the mudflats
