Sun 14 Oct	Black Bittern Mossman River Black Bittern (1) my first sighting of the season Doug Herrington
Wed 10 Oct	White-throated Needletail Black Mountain Rd, Kuranda At least 5, probably closer to 10, White-throated Needletails wheeling above rainforest at 7:45am today above Black Mountain Rd, Kuranda. This is my first record of this species in the Wet Tropics for the season. Martin Cachard
Tue 9 Oct	Red-tailed Black Cockatoo Aeroglen Road Cairns 2 birds seen flying south, first sighting since Yasi (February 2011) Adam Arnold
Mon 8 Oct	Sooty Oystercatcher Cooya Beach 2 birds seen along with 3 Pied Oystercatcher on the mudflats Doug Herrington
