Thu 4 Oct Little Friarbird Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge
Single bird calling whilst perched on a dead tree branch at entrance to Lodge grounds. Uncommon visitor to the Lodge, only 20th record since 2002 with 11 of those records in 2005. Nearly all records are September - December. One record in 2011 on 9th October.

Dollarbird Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge
1st sighting for the season. Single bird perched in a Blue Quondong tree, not calling.

Wed 3 Oct Black-faced Monarch Palamino Place, Kelso, Upper Bohle River
Single adult with mixed feeding flock of Varied Triller, Little Shrike-thrush, Fairy Gerygone and Brush Cuckoo in riparian forest along the upper Bohle River.

Sun 30 Sep Crested Shrike-tit Kaban
2 Crested Shrike-tit Kaban area also 1 Black Breasted Buzzard just north of Herberton. (Moderators Note: Kaban is a regular place to see Crested Shrike-tit which is uncommon elsewhere on the Atherton Tableland).

My first Dollarbird of the season

Pacific Baza The Lakes (Mecure Inn) Pimlico, Townsville
Seen very clearly resting in dead tree near woolcock street. Very healthy young bird in top condition. Possibly hunting - a few calls heard as well.

Fri 28 Sep Australian Painted Snipe Spotswood Park, Inkerman (Private Property)
Australian Painted Snipe - male (1) Found on Sat 29/09/2012, 0816 hrs. Flushed by stampeeding cattle at 14:22 hours. Landed in water hyacinth les than 50metres away but was unable to be relocated for a further 2 days in that general area. Drying marshlands. ID Photograph attached. (Private Property)
