The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period

Area: SA

Date: Saturday, April 28, 2012

Location: Gulf St Vincent

Short-tailed Shearwater (Puffinus tenuirostris) (50) On April 28th 2012 Sue
Burnell observed a flock of approximately 50 Shearwaters, possibly of this
species, flying north off Tennyson Beach. In most years large flocks of
Shearwater sp are frequently seen during April off Adelaide beaches. As this is
the only sighting that Sue has had of the birds this year she wonders if anyone
else has any observations for large flocks of Shearwaters in the Gulf for this

Location: Warnes's Scrub, 5km east of Owen

Spotted Nightjar (Eurostopodus argus) (2) Flushed a pair of Spotted Nightjars
whilst walking thru our scrub. Got within 6-8 meters from the birds which
allowed me some excellent views. This is the first time I have seen these birds
in our scrub and is a rare sighting for the area.

Date: Saturday, May 19, 2012

Location: Freeling

Black Falcon (Falco subniger) (1) Saw what was either 1 or a pair of Black
Falcons in the general area of freeling 3 times through-out the day! First two
sightings were of birds flying near farmers burning just south of Freeling on
the Thiele Hwy, the last sighting was directly over my house as a falcon
stirred up the local Galah population at about 5.30 in the afternoon.

Date: Sunday, May 20, 2012

Location: Warnes Farm, Owen

Black Falcon (Falco subniger) (1) Came down out of nowhere and missed a Crested
Pigeon by inches about 50m away from where I was taking photos of a Kestral!
Then preceeded to circle in a thermal above the house and got attacked by some
other Kestrals which were already in the thermal until it got high enough that
they left it alone!
