The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, April 16, 2012 to Sunday, April 22, 2012:

Area: SA

Date: Sunday, April 15, 2012

Location: On a private property on Ferries McDonald Road, Monarto

Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata) (1) No bird, but an active double mound was found
during the 2012 Malleefowl survey at Monarto. The two mounds had a boundary in
common, the larger one (similar size to the mound found at Calperum over
Easter) was full of litter, the smaller one scraped clean, and footprints were
abundant. It was right at the edge of the mallee area, with mostly native pine
trees on one side and Acacia euthycarpa on the other, and next to a stony area.
Earlier in the day an old inactive mound was found on another property, and
several sets of footprints kept the group encouraged as we fought our way
through, at times, dense prickly scrub.

Location: Chauncey's Line Road, Monarto South

Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata) (1) One bird seen crossing Chauncey's Line Road
(see photo), Monarto South, just west of the current extensive roadworks to
build a B-double truck highway through and alongside Ferries McDonald
Conservation Park. On a Sunday, roadworks are at a standstill. One bird has
already been found dead near where this one was this morning.
