Hi Greg,
It's definitely not a Spinifexbird. I researched the physiological ecology
of this species on Barrow Island from 1990-93. Spinifexbirds have lighter
underparts and the tail length is longer. It's also very rare to see a
Spinifexbird in such an exposed location (at top of a dead branch). I
actually thought it was a Brown Songlark rather than Rufous.
