Most, if not all, Wandering Tattlers will probably have left Australia by now
but they will return later this year and the search
for a way to easily and accurately identify them from Grey-tailed Tattlers will
start all over again. To help those birdwatchers
inexperienced with this species, I have today finished setting up an on-line
gallery of photos of Wandering Tattlers to
practice on.
Those birdwatchers who feel they have the identification process worked out
might also find some of the images interesting.
This gallery is not really an identification guide but more a collection of
birds in different plumage stages and different ages.
The identification guide may come later if I ever finally work out if there are
any 100% guaranteed ID features other than the call.
The photos in the gallery are a selection from the 2500+ photos of Wandering
Tattlers I have so far taken of this species over the
past 6 years. The glories of digital photography.
To see the gallery go to http://ptiloris.smugmug.com/Birds-of--Oz-Sets and
click on the picture of the Wandering Tattler.
Please note that there is a lot of images.
Cheers
