Hopefully the people of the north will come through OK and be in a  
position to enjoy a few good windblown vagrants on their doorstep  
[perhaps some shearwaters will turn up on the Tableland].  Given the  
likely storm surge and extremely high winds I wouldn't be doing a sea  
watch during the next 48 hours though.
 People with a sense of nemesis can follow the progress of the cyclone  
on the NOAA website - http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohemiloops/shirgmscol.html 
 .  It is a humungous system, about the size of Queensland.
