This bird was in a flock of at least 10 Rainbow Lorikeets with a single
Scaly-breasted Lorikeet in Coast Banksias along Beach Road at Ricketts
Point, Beaumaris in Victoria this afternoon. It appears to be a hybrid
between Rainbow and Scaly-breasted: dull blue head but yellow scaly
plumage on breast and back.

Any ideas appreciated.

Hi birders

Sunday morning I saw and photographed a lorikeet that at first looked
like a Scaly-breasted from behind. Then as I got a different angle on
it, it had markings like a rainbow, but not as rich. Is it possible that
the two species hybridse?

Kind regards
