Simon, in your original posting you said "I presume you know that the recovery 
team is considering taking 50% of the remaining 50 birds from the wild this 
year" and it's my impression that it was this that Peter Menkhorst objected to. 
You haven't mentioned this in your response below. Peter's response didn't give 
an alternative figure, but implied that the figure isn't meaningful, given that 
it will mostly be as yet unborn birds that will be taken.

I haven't checked your web article. Have you corrected that figure, or are you 
standing by it? I don't mind if people continue the discussion on your website, 
but seeing as it started here, at least this detail should be recorded here. 
The list archives are also a "permanent record".

That said, anything that further raises awareness of the issue is a good thing. 
I note that there were only sufficient volunteers for this weekend's OBP count 
at Werribee to conduct surveys on Sunday, none will be done today.
