Sat 24 Apr Varied Triller Minnippi Parklands
1 female seen near Pylons,only my 2nd record here.Also plenty of
Spangled Drongos, Grey Fantails and Rufous Whistlers.

Fri 23 Apr Scarlet Robin, Spotted Quail-thrush Girraween NP (S of
Stanthorpe)
Several pairs of Scarlet Robin were seen near the Bald Rock camping area
at Girraween NP this morning. The males were very actively singing their
sweet songs (see attached photo) & a good number of females were also
observed in the area. Just up the road from the ranger base, a party of
5 Spotted Quail-thrush were seen crossing the road. A very nice variety
of other good woodland birds were present in the NP.

Thu 22 Apr Black-breasted Button-quail Inskip Point & Yarraman SF
At Inskip Point, 2 groups of 3 birds were seen 300mtrs apart beyond the
bitumen at 6:45am - both coveys were of an adult female with 2
males/imms & were seen within 5 mins of each other, suggesting that they
were different birds. See photo attached of one of the females seen here
that was observed for much of the morning. On the day prior at Yarraman
State Forest, females were heard making their booming calls, but I
couldn't manage to get any views of them. Fresh feeding platelets were
very widespread at both locations.

Wed 21 Apr Spotted Bowerbird, Turquoise Parrot, Square-tailed Kite
Sundown NP (SW of Stanthorpe); Leyburn (75km SW of Toowoomba)
3 Turquoise Parrots seen near camping area at Sundown NP & a single
Spotted Bowerbird flew over the small dam a few hundred metres to the NE
of the camp - this species is at its very SE edge of range in SE Qld.
Lots of other good woodland birds in this part of the NP including
Diamond Firetail, Speckled Warbler, Hooded Robin etc. Later in the same
morning just S of Leyburn, a pair of Square-tailed Kites flew low over
the road.

Sat 17 Apr 1 White-faced Storm Petrel, Kermadec (3) & Tahiti
Petrels (9), White-tailed Tropicbird, Masked Booby Southport Pelagic
1 White-faced Storm Petrel (the 2nd April running and the 2nd Southport
record) 2 intermediate and 1 dark phase Kermadec Petrels. 9 Tahiti
Petrels Adult White-tailed Tropicbird Adult Masked Booby. 20+ Providence
Petrels 30+ Wilson Storm-Petrels Wedge-tailed, Flesh-footed and 1
Fluttering Shearwater.
