This morning about 11.00 am I was following the fence around the south side of the dry Billabong at Banyule Flats, heading south towards the river. I happened to put my binocs on a solitary bird perched in the open on top of a dead tree - to my great surprise it was a Song Thrush. I managed a couple of photos before it flew away (I have sent one to Birdline Vic). I cannot think when I last saw this species in the area.
