Hi all,
I will be in Sydney for about 10 days in January next year (arrive 9th, leave
20th) and I have 4-5 days set aside for birding and I'm hoping some east coast
birders can help me out with some questions.
I haven't done much birding on the east coast yet, so I've got quite a long
list of target species, but I'd be particularly keen to see Rock Warbler,
Superb Lyrebird, Regent Honeyeater (if possible)
and.......................Red-whiskered Bulbul. Any info on where I might be
able to get these, particularly close to the city?
I'll be staying in the city and won't have my own transport, so I'd also be
interested in any gen on good sites close to the city. I'm also hoping that
there might be some friendly local birders who would be willing to show me
around some of the good spots (I would obviously cover fuel costs and would be
happy to return the favour in Perth). Is there anyone interested in showing a
lost WA birder around?
Also, how far is the Capertee Valley from Sydney in terms of travel time? I'm
trying to weigh up the feasibility of heading out there for a day, but I
suspect it may be too far.
A final question; are there any pelagics planned between the 10th and the 19th?
The info on Tony Palliser's site suggests there won't be, but I thought I'd
double check.
Thanks in advance,
John Graff
Perth, WA
