Hi All, Tobias Hayashi reported seeing a fair size group of Wandering Tattlers
in northern NSW back in January & reactions appeared mixed. Following the
Southport February pelagic, I took two other birders (Grant Penrhyn & Richard
Fuller) up to Caloundra to show them how to get good close-up photos of this
species. It was just after high tide so the birds were still resting & there
were 10 individuals loafing together on the one rock. I demonstrated to the
other two on how it is possible to get within about 4 metres or less of this
species, I needed to get sharp photos of the rear of the tarsi to
prove/disprove a point. Anyone interested in seeing a photo of 10 Wandering
Tattlers together need to just send me a request and I'll e-mail them a JPEG.
Cheers - Paul W.
