Hi David,This site is dedicated to birds and birdwatching but I would argue that the issue of blaming conservation management for the intensity of the fires is a relevant issue to be debated on this forum. The possible 'knee-jerk' reaction of politicians may well see the destruction of large areas of bird habitat by too much hazard reduction burning and over-zealous tree clearing. It is healthy to have debate on these issues and, I believe, adds a bit of life to the forum. In saying this I strongly oppose people using the forum to make personal attacks on others on the list or journalists. I believe that you should attack the issue and not the person.
