It looks like a classic Brown Rat to me. Small ears and blunt snout are a
dead giveaway. The tail in norvegicus can be a little longer than the body.
Habitat and terrestrial behaviour also suggest norvegicus but are not in 
themselves diagnostic.

Black Rats have big ears and much more pointed snouts - which is why a lot
of people who see Black Rats think that they are "too cute to be rats"
(based on answering this question over twenty years in the Queensland
Museum's Inquiry Centre).
