Sorry Peter, I should have picked up on the fact that you mentioned Water Rats 
at Edithvale Wetlands.  You're right, we dont have them.  I checked out your 
rat photos and they definitely are not water rats - no big whiskers, no white 
tail tip, far too small an animal.  You'll know a water rat when you see one, 
more platypus size!  But we do have black rats  a-plenty from the drain next to 
the wetlands.
