Tree Sparrows in Shepparton

Yesterday we parked in Shepparton on the Goulburn Valley Highway, to carry out 
a minor
car repair. We were just north of Nixon St, heading south. I noticed a pair of 
sparrows
on a rubbish bin - they looked too brown for House Sparrows. Binocs showed them 
to be
Tree Sparrows - much richer brown than a House Sparrow nearby, plus the 
distinctive spot
on the cheek.  They flew into a plane tree so I walked up to the bin and 
crumbled a
small corner of my sandwich on the pavement, and returned to the car. After 
about ten
minutes, not only two but six Tree Sparrows flew down and ate the crumbs.
