Spent from 1-3pm at Maroubra. Nothing too exciting.
Giant Petrel spec. 1 first winter (too distant for specific ID; bill tip
appeared darkish, not sure if this was just a trick of light)
Fur-seal spec. 2 (too distant for specific ID)
Dolphin spec. 2 (swam the opposite direction while I watched the Giant-Petrel,
I sticked with the petrel and screwed up the ID of the dolphins)
Black-browed Albatross: 1 imm
Yellow-nosed Albatross: 1
Wedge-tailed Shearwater: many
Fluttering/Hutton's Shearwaters: many flocks (500+ birds) all heading South (I
think I saw too many with dark hoods and darkish underwings to be true for
Hutton's; maybe again a problem of the distance and a trick of the light)
Australasian Gannets: also lots heading South
Little Penguin: heard several times from underneath the cliffs
Kelp Gull: 1 first winter
plis the usual Crested Terns and Silver Gulls
