Maybe the name reflects more the demeanour of the bird! Pacific, meaning
peaceable or mild of temper - after all I've never seen a mob of them
brawling over a packet of discarded chips the way Silver Gulls do!!!
Besides, if some scrub-birds or miners can be noisy, and flycatchers can be
restless then why can't some gulls be pacific?
