Dear All,

From the people who brought you the environmental disaster of the Saemangeum wetlands draining, a new threat to the Avifauna (not to mention the Environment in general), The Grand Canal. This proposal is to canalise all 4 of S. Korea's major river systems, which will entail dredging and maintaining to a depth of 6m the 3,100Km length of these rivers. It is rather like turning the Murray-Darling system in to a network of ship canals.

Birds Korea is trying to bring this disaster in the making to the attention of the world in the hope that International opinion will block the project. Would you all please have a look at the Birds Korea web site about this project and please, please sign the 2 e- petitions. The Birds Korea site can be found at:
