Hi Frank, et. al.,
It's a couple of years now since I went to King Island, but from our
info, it's almost impossible to find Brown Thornbills any time
there. It would be an extremely rare sighting. The common Brown
Thornbill on KI is in fact the Tasmanian Thornbill - in a far wider
variety of habitats than the wet forest they frequent on 'mainland'
Tasmania. We didn't find any California Quail, but were told that
between NAracooppa and Sea Elephant, or Naracoopa and Currie on the
Northwestern (dirt) road are the most likely places. We found
Scrubtit in a few of the denser patches of scrub and forest - some
just near Currie harbour, some on the east coast, and some in the
last remaining forested area, just a bit to the west of NAracoopa.
Hope this is helpful - and please let someone know if you definitely
ID Brown Thornbill.

Hi Birders,
I am planning a trip to King Island at the end of January.
From my research to date, it seems that Californian Quail and
Scrubtit may be hard to find and Brown Thornbill almost impossible.
Any advice on where these birds have been seen would be appreciated.
Cheers
