Dear All,

I think that the you will find that the only legislation that covers Canada Geese in NSW at the moment, is the Non-Indigenous Animals Act 1987 (NIAA) , which governs the keeping of exotic animal species. Under the NIAA Regulations 2006 - Schedule 1 Part 4 Canada Geese are listed as Category 4. The criteria for inclusion this category are:

(f) Category 4 consists of species that would be unlikely to present a threat or greatly worsen an existing threat if they escaped into the wild. Animals in this category will usually be domestic or farm animals having no pest potential.

, see http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/nar2006321/ s4.html

Birds Australia is listed as one of the 3 bodies consulted in regard to which species were to be included in a category.

Looks like the geese are not cooked.

Cheers,

Carl Clifford

PS, I was an Inspector under the Act until 2002
