What is in a name?

Hi there birders,
I've just returned from my morning walk.
I saw an Australian Hobby sitting on a dead branch almost as if it was
posing for my camera. It must have known that I'd left the camera home!
The name "hobby" got me thinking. Why the name "hobby" - surely the
alternative "Little Falcon" is a far more suitable and descriptive name?
I invite you to leave comments on my blog where I've written about this
