Barking Owls used to breed at Ebeneezer/Wilberforce just outside the Sydney
limits and I have heard that they were around Cattai and Scheyville (both
areas in Sydney) for a little while several years ago. We also have a record
on Hyland Rd at Greystanes (in the middle of Sydney) by another birdo who
gave me his list for the area (a credible birdo who unfortunately passed
away). I am sure they do make their appearance occasionally in Sydney every
now and then but some may mistaken their calls for something else so sight
records would provide better confirmation.

I have not heard about the Capertee birds for a while (has anyone seen them
there recently?) and have heard them being recorded along the Putty Rd
(e.g.) at Howes Valley.
