Have a look in Simpson (7th Ed) p281 and Morecombe p349 ( who also
quotes the size difference as even greater, 22-23cm vs 27-29cm, a max of
24% shorter; or 31% bigger if you calculate it the other way). 
 Can't imagine why Slater left Blackbird out of his early editions - he
included Sparrows, Greenfinch, Rock Pigeon etc and other ferals.
