Hi Mike
So your 24 May date is too late by some three to seven weeks to be
influenced by their autumn migration. .... You don't say how large is the
site you are surveying. I suspect it is quite large (well over 100
hectares) and prime habitat for the species...

A couple of responses to that from Bayside.
I would tend to agree about the May date as our latest date from our
foreshore migration route is 5/5. But we have records from Elsternwick Park
south (15? hectares) in 2002 on 21/5 and 23/5 with none seen on three
earlier visits that month. The park is mainly grass so robins are
difficult to miss.
Also a couple of reports from areas smaller than 100 Ha: c20 in late May on
Sandringham Golf Course where I doubt that number would over winter and
about 50 (from memory in misty weather) at Cheltenham Park, the highest
point of Bayside.
