Hi all
as it was a fine sunny day in Sydney, I went with my family to Warriewood
Wetlands, between 10:30 and 1, where we walked all the way up from Katoa
Close to the waterfall in Irrawong Reserve and back. As it was Swift
Parrot/Regent Honeyeater survey day, I thought I'd see if the Swamp
Mahoganies were flowering and, if they were, if anything unusual had
stopped. The Mahoganies are flowering, and look like they have been so for a
while, but there's still more flowers to come from what I could see, so
another visit could be on the cards.
No Swifties or Regents that I could see or hear - lots of Rainbow Lorikeets
with a few Scaly Breasted, Musk and at least 2 Littles in the mix; plenty of
Yellow Faced and Scarlet HEs, plus 4 Fuscous, 2 Brown Headed and 2 White
Naped. There were more birds in the mahoganies in Irrawong Reserve than in
the Warriewood Wetland section.
There was a raptor about - I only got a glimpse through the trees but I
think it was a Brown Goshawk. I saw a Peregrine in St Ives on the way home.
Cheers
 Tom Wilson
