My sister's husband's cockatoos (Major Mitchells) in Balmain used to quietly wait and watch the House Sparrows come down and poke their heads through the cage wires to get at the cockatoo's spilt grain - a quick grab and a headless sparrow. The head was eaten. No cage is safe, inside or outside it seems.
