Hi all,
On Thursday I was taken to Lake Hourdiman (26 degrees35.16's,
144degrees18.50') about 5 km east of Quilpie for a brief morning tea break
en route elsewhere. While sitting under the requisite Coolibah Tree one of
the children I was with, using my binoculars, commented that she saw a 'sea
gull'. I looked and from a distance it certainly looked like a very white
Silver Gull, but the flight was more like that of a tern. It briefly flew
much closer to us and I could see it was all white with a sharp black beak
and black eye. On checking the books all I could think it was would be a
White Tern, but way out of range. Has anyone else seen this bird? Is there
anyone else in the area who could check and offer a second opinion?
