Hi Carl,I wish I could feel as confident as you about Pentax binoculars. I bought a waterproof pair of 8 x 42 in 2000 in Cairns. They claim you could wash them under the shower. $900 was more than I wanted to pay but I felt the fact that they were waterproof and thus fungus free would be worth it. However, in Dec 2004 I got salt spray on them in the sub-Antarctic and so I briefly put them under the tap. Low and behold next morning they could not be adjusted out wide again. Luckily they fit my eye width but they cannot be used at a different width. I contacted the supplier in Cairns who said because they were over 12 months old they were not guaranteed. I would have thought waterproofing was a lifetime feature. I did send them down to Pentax in Sydney or Melbourne but they said there was nothing they could do. So I am quite disillusioned about Pentax. Jan |
