Hello Evan

Just a note on one comment you made:

"At least now we've made certain that
> anyone with a new idea will think twice before telling anyone" [because of
all the negativity].

I have a different but somewhat related concern. The Australian newspaper
has been publishing allegations that some Coxen's fig-parrot sightings are
"politically motivated". The sightings referred to are not named and no
substantiation for the claim is given. See Greg Robert's article published
in the Australian on 18 July 2006 headed "Creature Discomforts: Wildlife
protection laws are hampering development". If you google this and the
journalist's name, you should find a copy.

My concern is that some birders will become reluctant to report their Coxens
sightings generally and to the Recovery Program in particular for fear of
attracting adverse publicity and allegations of political motivation.

I hope this concern is unfounded and I encourage everyone in the birding
community to report all sightings (even if you're not 100% sure).

Regards
Andrew
