Hi Birders,

The distribution of Striped Honeyaters in NSW is similar to that of Little Friarbirds & White-breasted Woodswallows, in that they occur throughout inland Central NSW and extend to the Coast, and along the coast as far south as Gosford & Wyong LGAs - ie the NSW Central Coast. The distribuition then extends up the Hunter Valley and skirts the western extremity of the Hawkesbury Sandstone area and then south into the Southern NSW Tablelands and into Victoria.

The Hawkesbury Sandstone Region seems to present a substanial ecologiocal barrier to these species. There a just a few records for both Striped Honeyeaters and Little Friarbirds in the Sydney and Illawarra Regions. In recent years however, White-breasted Woodswallows have spread south along the coast and can now be found at a num,ber of coastal wetland and estuarine areas similar to what they occupy further north.
