The following was received from Australian Museum herpetologist Allen Greer:

Hi. I would see no reason why any self-respecting snake would not try to leave 
some at least temporary impression on a stork trying to eat it. So yes, I would 
not be surprised if a live snake wouldn't have one last shot before 
disappearing down the dark tunnel of doom.  But I also agree that a stork would 
very likely batter a snake senseless if not to death before eating it.
