The Woody point Kelp Gull was there in September 2002. That was the only
Kelp Gull in Queensland that I was aware of this in Millennium. I also heard
of one 10 to 15 years ago.
However, can I please ask, are quite sure of you identification for a Kelp
Gull at Inskip. A Pacific Gull has been recorded recently at Inskip, not a
Kelp Gull. As both are quite rare in QLD, it would seem odd that a Pacific
went as a Kelp Gull arrived. I also find them difficult to tell apart when
they are not flying or are far away.

Hi all
Just back from a successful sighting of 5 Black-breasted Button-quail at
Inskip Point , Queensland , near Gympie. (Thanks Tom Tarrant for the
precise directions ) On the right hand side beach at the end of the
bitumen were 3 Beach Stone Curlew and 1 Kelp Gull .
I recorded Kelp Gull at Woody Point near Redcliffe in Brisbane a couple
of years ago and was wondering if any locals up there can say whether
they are increasing in numbers or I am just in the right spots at the
right times ?
Also does anybody know an estimated population of Black-breasted
Button-quail at Inskip Point ?
