Just spent three weeks touring the Kimberley with my non-birding wife - a great holiday/birding location.  Managed five target species:-
GOULDIAN FINCH.  There must be a special on this dry season, found them in four locations, (7) cattle trough on Mt Elizabeth Stn, ask Maxine for directions, (50) river crossing 4km short of Marunbabidi Wilderness Camp - off Kalumburu Rd, (both the above just after sunrise), (1) birdbath behind relocated Argyle Historic Homestead just before Ord River Dam and (1) small man-made "billabong" 100m behind new statue park in centre of Wyndham.
BLACK GRASSWREN.  (3) at Thomas & Thomas site - on hill behind Little Mertens Creek on track to Mitchell Falls - use tape,  too hard a place to get to only to miss out.
GREAT-BILLED HERON.  (1) 70m north of jetty at Derby.  Best on falling tide once it clears the mangroves (around 2hrs after high tide).
PICTORELLA MANNIKIN.  Flocks from 50km west of Home Valley Stn up to and including the station's airstrip (STAR FINCH there too).
CHESTNUT-BACKED BUTTON-QUAIL.  Flushed a number of times, fairly common in the Mitchell Plateau area.
Birds I enjoyed seeing again:-
WHITE-QUILLED ROCK-PIGEON.  Common in gorges.
WHITE-LINED HONEYEATER.  Vine thicket on track to Mitchell Falls.
WHITE-BREASTED WHISTLER. (1) Hunters Creek at Cape Leveque.
ASIAN DOWITCHER.  (1) Broome Bird Observatory.
BROAD-BILLED FLYCATCHER.  As above.
Missed targets of Common Redshank at BBO and Zitting Cisticolla at Parrys Lagoons.  Did not see Partridge Pigeon or Sandstone Shrike-thrush either.
Contact me directly for info on anything to do with the trip.
