Hi all,
Over the last few weeks I've heard a more musical bird than the usual Red and Little Wattlebird outside my house, but never able to get binoculars and me together at the right time.  Yesterday this call was coming from just outside my dining area window while having lunch, so I finally got the binocularws out and satisfied my hunch - a Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater - in an urban Cowes garden environment in the middle of Winter! The only other places I have seen these birds are in arid places like Ned's Corner and Lake Mungo! I have seen them occasionally on Phillip Island, but in spring or summer.  Can't this bird bird read the gude books of where to go in Winter.  Cowes is a great holiday destination, but most humans visit in warmer times too.  What's gone wrong?
