That doesn't help if I can't see (for some reason) any site on the
menura.cse.unsw.edu.au domain.
I can, however, use Google's caching function to see their take on what
that page contained. I'll investigate this when I have more time.

Another alternative is to use a site-specific Google search. For
example, to search the archive for the word "weebill", here is the
search string for Google:
weebill site:menura.cse.unsw.edu.au
The magic is the site:the-name-of-the-site-here part of the string.
Obviously, this doesn't provide all of the specialized options
available from the real Birding-Aus search archive system. Then again,
if you don't need to use those options, you don't need to learn how to
use them. (Like many of us, I have to search a lot of different sites
regularly and have largely given up on learning individual search
engines.)
