I cannot agree with your arguments either about feeding or cats.
Your thoughts that one more or less doesn't matter is probably
statistically. However if everyone takes that attitude it may mean
everyone has a cat or everyone feeds as each takes the attitude of one
more doesn't matter.
Its not the "one more" but rather the "sum of the ones" that add up. My
attitude is that each cat eats (kills) x birds lizards set each year
so 20 cats eats (kills) 20x.
The alternative is that each person who doesn't have a cat prevents x
kills annually.
Last night I attended a dinner to celebrate Queensland Ornithological
Society"s (Birds Queensland) 35th anniversary and one of the speakers
spoke on changes during that time (another speaker also touched o the
same theme with almost identical words). Both firmly placed a the
changes in bird population and densities in Brisbane and surrounds n
people.
each person has only a small effect but each of us should do our bit
rather than take the attitude that my bit makes no difference.
