I've always found the feeding of birds and animals at tourist places a bit
of a con. Not only do the proprietors get free labour , in the form of
tourists, to feed their animals, they can also sell them the food to do it,
at a profit. Wish someone would pay to come and feed my horses and chooks.

I remember staying at the Oasis Lodge adjacent to Carnarvon Gorge NP in
Queensland. We carelessly left the tent flap open and the local Currawongs
got in and ate our supply of trail mix (nuts & raisins) and then excreted
all over the place, terrible mess. On the same trip, the ranger at the Gorge
told us about the 11 yr old boy who was ripped open from neck to groin by a
male kangaroo when he refused to give up his sandwich lunch.
