Best tripod for scope?

I am looking to replace my old Manfrotto 3175GN3 (purchased in the USA) - it's far too heavy (around 3.1 kg) and the catches on the legs are very stiff to operate. I will use it only for my spotting scope (Kowa TSN823).

On paper the Slik Moden U8000 (which BOCA sell) looks good - any comments or alternative suggestions from anyone?
