Plastic bags

G'day Sarah Tee Pee and all,

 

It amazes we have have fresh meat sold then placed inside plastic? then again it's all to do with the almighty Oz dollar and definately NOT public health eh? if it was public health then we wouldn't have young humans suffocate of plastic bags eh?

 

*Washable calico bags* with pretty little Oz boid pictures on them to let all know where oz birds are? mapped bags for tourists.

 

Sorry Tee Pee the problem is NOT with the end user of plastic bags they are merely given what they get or can handle.

I think it has to do with the cost of storage but Health Regulations may
have their part to play. Perhaps they DO make money from selling them to recycling plants.

I have large plastic boxes in the back of the car (actually a ute) for
carrying groceries (stops them rolling around everywhere) but it is not
possible to take them into the store. They are too heavy when full, would
not fit in the area provided around the check out, won't fit in trolleys,
etc. It is doubly difficult when you need a walking stick when shopping.

I would still like to hear from those who do not live in the city areas and
their views on the whole situation. I remember when Woolworths had to lift the limit of the ir cheque acceptance from $200 to $300. early in the 80's, to allow me to pay for our groceries. $300 was an enormous amount in those days. They supplied boxes but not enough and my wife could not lift a box full of groceries into the car. It was also much too hot to start transferring groceries into boxes in the carpark. We then had a two hour drive home. Many people still have this sort of problem today. To burden them with the extra cost (either numerous reusable bags or charge for plastic bags) is not fair. Surely, biodegradable plastic bags is the answer. They DID have them What has changed?
