whatever happened to re-using the hundreds of cardboard boxes that the
supermarket disposes of each week? obviously this is not a viable option for
those without a car, but in the example of those who don't shop often and
come away with trolleys full of goods - boxes could definately be used in
this situation.  the last supermarket I worked had its own cardboard
compactor, and the crushed cardboard was collected weekly for recycling (and
I'm sure this was at a cost to the store).  whenever I'm in Coles or Safeway
there are no boxes available for customers.  the fact of the matter is that
people are generally lazy, and large stores encourage this.
