Likewise with the dead White-faced Storm Petrel
found on the road near Jerrabomberra wetlands in Canberra and the unwell
Wedge-tailed Shearwater found at a petrol station in central Canberra. Both from
the 1980s but are on our list.

example of the transported roadkill is the dead male Redcapped Robin
which I picked up in Greville St, Prahran (Melbourne). It was accompanied
by a lot of pale long grass - definitely not a local product ... I looked
about and found a large 4WD vehicle parked in the gutter, with a lot more
of the same grass caught behind the bull-bar. My conclusion
was that the bird had been killed while the vehicle was passing through
the long grass area, probably north of the Divide, and the owner had
parked the car and then cleaned out the radiator grille and bull-bar,
throwing the bird onto the road (where it was
extremely conspicuous). Unfortunately the specimen
was definitely 'high' and not suitable for the Museum, but I reported it,
with full explanation, just the same.
