Hi Alan,
I read your report that my sighting of Black-faced Woodswallow
was the first for The Cumberland Basin. I had prolonged and repeated views
several of the birds, which I've seen many times before in the N.T. in
particular.
The three species were flying around our house for a couple of days,
identifiable on the wing, but the clincher came when a group landed in a
Silky Oak next to the house. I had Slater in my hand. The Black-faced had
small black chin, pale grey throat and black from bill back to and around
the eye. No obvious eyebrow, a little darker than Slaters illustration, no
white vent, no brown on belly. In obvious contrast to the White-browed and
Masked strung along the same branches. The Blackfaced were in the minority.
