did anyone on the list (apart from Edwin)participate in >the survey?? Any snipe or other goodies seem??

I surveyed Onkaparinga Wetlands near Adelaide, where Painted Snipe had been seen in 2000 and 2001. No reports last year that I know of, and the area where they were previously found was completely dry, so not surprisingly I didn't find any. However I did get a very close look at a Stubble Quail that scurried under the boardwalk to hide from me. Also saw a couple of Dusky Woodswallows with 3 juveniles, and a flock of about a dozen Elegant Parrots flying overhead.

The little lake near the sewage ponds had water in it and quite a lot of birds, including Yellow-billed and Royal Spoonbills, several Red-kneed Dotterels, and a single Pink-eared Duck, which I think are rather uncommon in Adelaide. Also quite a lot of Black-tailed Native-hens around the sewage ponds. But no snipe that
I could see.
