Hello
We are currently doing a morphometric study on the
various subspecies of the
Common Kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) with the emphasis on
comparing the Rock Kestrel
(F. t. rupicolus) with the rest. Our ideal would be to
show some morphometric data
that separates the Rock Kestrel from the other subspecies
to back recent genetic
evidence where the Rock Kestrel groups out on the
otherside of the Australian Kestrel
(Falco cenchroides) rather than with the rest of the F.
tinnunculus group.
We would very much like to obtain measurements of the
Australian Kestrel (F.
cenchroides) to add to our data set for comparison
purposes. Measurements
of live and/or museum specimens will be useful.
Can anyone on this list help us with such data, or put us
in contact with
individuals or organizations that could provide such
data? We are happy to discuss
conditions on the use of the data, co-authorship, etc,
with anyone who has a good data set.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Anthony van Zyl
